Dendrobium spectabile fma alba
(spectabile fma alba x sib)
Seedlings (grown from seed).
The is the alba (no anthocyanin pigment in flower) color form of a truly unique warm to hot growing species from New Guinea. These medium to large growing plants produce creamy-yellow, honey scented flowers in Winter to Spring. Often referred to as the “Alien Orchid”. These seedlings are vigorous growing plants in 3” pots (approximately 1+ years from flowering).
Photo #1 shows an example of the flowers of the alba form. Photo #2 shows an example of the size plants offered for sale.
We grow these in our “Cattleya house” where they get medium to bright filtered light (2,500-3,000 foot-candles) and are watered just as the media dries. These may be grown in pots/baskets. Only repot when new roots are produced.
